Joy in the Middle

Privacy Policy

Effective October 25, 2026

The short version

1. Who we are

Joy in the Middle is a daily grief-support app created by The Intention Project. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean the maker of the app, and "you" means anyone using it.

2. What stays on your device

To work, the app saves a few things on your iPhone only:

  • the day you started, so it knows which daily message to show
  • your journal entries
  • the messages you save and the practices you mark as done
  • your daily reminder setting and time

This information is never sent to us or to anyone else. We have no server that receives it, and we cannot read it.

3. What we don't collect

We don't collect your name, email address, location, contacts, photos, health data, device identifiers or usage data. The app contains no advertising, no analytics tools and no third-party tracking code.

4. Subscriptions and payments

Subscriptions are bought and managed through Apple's App Store. Apple processes your payment and tells the app only whether you have an active subscription. We never receive your payment details. Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

5. Reminders

If you turn on the daily reminder, your iPhone schedules it locally. No information is sent anywhere to deliver it. You can turn it off in the app or in your iPhone's Settings at any time.

6. Sharing a message

When you tap Share, your iPhone's own share menu opens and you choose where the message goes. We don't see what you share or who you share it with.

7. Backups and deleting your data

If you use iCloud Backup, Apple may include the app's saved information in your iPhone's backup. That backup is controlled by you and Apple, and we can't access it.

To delete everything the app has stored, delete the app from your iPhone. Choosing "Start again" in the app resets your day count but keeps your journal and saved messages.

8. Children

Joy in the Middle is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone, including children.

9. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the effective date above. If a change ever affects how your information is handled, we'll explain it in the app before it takes effect.

10. Contact
